A Week in London: Itinerary and Tips for First-Time Visitors

Greetings, fellow travelers! Next month, my partner and I are embarking on an exciting week-long adventure in London, marking our first visit to this vibrant city. To make the most of our time, I’ve crafted a preliminary itinerary and would appreciate any insights or suggestions to enhance our experience. Our primary interests lie in historical landmarks, delicious dining, and vibrant nightlife. I’ve sprinkled in a few questions throughout—thank you in advance for your advice!

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration

Wednesday – Arriving at 10:15 AM
Upon landing, we’ll head to our hotel situated near Whitehall. After settling in, we’ll grab lunch before embarking on a leisurely exploration of iconic sites, including 10 Downing Street, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Boadicea and Her Daughters, the Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace. To conclude our day, we plan to unwind at Gordon’s Wine Bar.

While I’ve considered witnessing the Changing of the Guard, I’m unsure if it warrants a high priority on our schedule. We’ll continue our day exploring Marylebone High Street and have our sights set on Daunt Books—any recommendations for dining nearby would be greatly appreciated! Our stroll will lead us toward the British Museum, where we’ll take advantage of its late hours this Friday. Dinner will be at a reserved spot in Holborn.

Day 4: Discovering Notting Hill

Saturday
