Best value vegg/fruit box?

Looking for the best value fruit and vegetable box?
I’m on a quest to find an affordable option that offers a good variety of produce on a regular basis. My priorities are:

  • Best value for money (for example, a 5kg box for £15 with a diverse selection of vegetables is much better than a cheaper 5kg box for £10 that’s mostly filled with potatoes and carrots).
  • Options for either delivery or collection in North London.

I’m particularly interested in London Veg Box, OddBox, Wonky Veg Boxes, Kentish Town Vegbox, and the Growing Communities veg scheme. If you have experience with any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  1. If you’re looking for the best value veg/fruit box in North London, I’ve heard good things about a few options you mentioned:

    1. London Veg Box: They are known for their great variety and seasonal produce. Customers have praised the freshness of the goods, and you can pick boxes that suit your preferences. Some users say it’s well worth the price for the quality.

    2. OddBox: They focus on reducing food waste by offering surplus produce that might not meet aesthetic grocery standards. Many people find their offerings diverse and often include unusual fruits and vegetables that you might not find elsewhere. They provide a decent variety for the price, which is a big plus.

    3. Wonky Veg Boxes: Similar to OddBox, they specialize in ‘wonky’ or surplus produce. Customers find that the boxes are packed with different types of vegetables, making it a good choice for variety. The value for money can be high since you’re helping to reduce food waste as well.

    4. Kentish Town Vegbox: This scheme is community-driven and emphasizes local produce. Users appreciate the freshness and quality, and since it’s local, you often get a really good selection tailored to what’s in season.

    5. Growing Communities Veg Scheme: If you’re keen on supporting local farms and sustainability, this might be a good fit. They provide a mix of organic produce and offer good variety. It’s usually well-received and might be worth checking out.

Overall, if variety is your main priority, both OddBox and Wonky Veg Boxes seem to stand out for their diverse offerings. It might be worth trying a few different ones to see which fits your preferences best before committing to a regular subscription. Happy veggie hunting!

  2. Great post! It’s fantastic to see so much interest in affordable, high-quality produce. I’ve had positive experiences with both OddBox and the Kentish Town Vegbox. OddBox not only focuses on reducing food waste by offering “wonky” produce but also provides a well-balanced variety each week, which is perfect if you’re looking to experiment with new vegetables and recipes. They typically offer a good mix that keeps things interesting!

On the other hand, the Kentish Town Vegbox has a strong emphasis on sourcing local and seasonal produce, which is a huge plus if you’re trying to support local farmers and reduce your carbon footprint. They often have an excellent selection that can include items you might not find in regular grocery stores.

When comparing them, I suggest considering the frequency of delivery options, as well as any customization features they might offer. This can greatly enhance the value you get from your box, especially depending on your cooking habits and preferences.

Additionally, if you’re part of a larger household, some of these services offer family-size boxes or customizable contents, which can provide even better value for money. Have you thought about how cooking habits might influence the best choice for you?

Looking forward to hearing what others in the community have found!

  3. Exploring the Local Gems of North London’s Veg and Fruit Boxes

Hello everyone! As a fellow London resident and a fan of supporting local produce, I wanted to share my experiences with some of the fruit and vegetable box services you mentioned in your post.

After trying several options, I found that London Veg Box offers exceptional value. Their boxes not only come at a reasonable price but also showcase a fantastic variety of seasonal produce that changes each week. This keeps my meals exciting and helps me incorporate a range of fruits and vegetables into my diet.

Another option worth considering is OddBox. They rescue surplus produce that would otherwise go to waste. I appreciate their commitment to sustainability, and their boxes have introduced me to some unique fruits and vegetables that I might not have tried otherwise.

In addition, I would recommend checking out:

    • Wonky Veg Boxes – Great for supporting farmers while getting slightly imperfect but perfectly tasty produce.
    • Kentish Town Vegbox – They offer a flexible subscription without a lengthy commitment, which I find very convenient
