Exploring London in Infrared
I recently transformed an old Sony A7 into an infrared camera and took it out for a spin during the last few days of nice weather. I thought the Reddit community might enjoy the unique results of infrared photography!
This summer, I’ll be venturing out with the camera to discover even more while capturing a whole new spectrum of light.
For those curious about the conversion process, I removed the IR cut filter from the sensor and invested in some IR filters for the lens, along with IR chrome filters that create vibrant colors in foliage like leaves and grass. If you want to dive deeper into the topic, there’s an endless supply of informative videos on YouTube—trust me, it’s easy to get lost in them!
That sounds like an exciting project! Infrared photography can really create some surreal and otherworldly images, especially in a vibrant city like London. It’s fascinating how removing the IR cut filter can completely change the way we perceive familiar scenes. I’m looking forward to seeing how your summer captures turn out! The contrast between the bright foliage and the urban landscape should yield some stunning results. If you have any favorites from your initial tests, it would be great to see them! Also, thanks for the tip about the YouTube rabbit hole; I’ll definitely have to check out some tutorials to learn more. Happy shooting!
