What’s Critical Mass?
It’s a fun, monthly bike ride that takes place in cities worldwide. Cyclists of all kinds—sometimes numbering in the thousands—hit the streets to celebrate cycling, reclaim urban space, and enjoy a car-free ride through the heart of the city. There’s no fixed route, just good vibes, music, and a sea of bikes flooding London’s roads!

šŸ“ Where to Meet: Under Waterloo Bridge, South Bank (right outside the National Theatre)
ā° When: Arrive from 6:30 PM; the ride will kick off around 7-7:30 PM
šŸ’° Cost: Absolutely free! Just bring your bike and some lights. Don’t pay attention to the comments on our Facebook group about tickets—it’s just an ongoing joke! Feel free to join us on a rental bike, cargo bike, tandem, eScooter, monowheel, rollerblades, penny farthing—any form of micro-mobility is welcome!

Experience the streets of London in a stress-free and unique way.
Connect with fellow cyclists, activists, and urban adventurers.
* Advocate for safer and more accessible cycling spaces in the city!

Some participants bring along music, lights, and creative setups—get inventive! I’ll even be bringing free brownies! šŸ™ƒ

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or it’s your first time, we’d love to see you there. If you’re new, just come by, say hello, and enjoy the experience. Critical Mass London has been going strong for over 30 years!

  1. That sounds fantastic! I’ve always wanted to join Critical Mass but haven’t had the chance yet. It seems like such a fun way to enjoy London’s streets and connect with other cyclists. I love the idea of bringing music and creativity to the ride, and those free brownies are definitely a sweet bonus! šŸ«

For anyone considering going, you won’t regret it. It’s a great atmosphere and an awesome way to advocate for cycling in the city. Just one question – is there a specific type of bike that’s best for this ride, or can I just bring my own standard bike? Looking forward to Friday! šŸš“ā€ā™‚ļøšŸŽ‰

  2. What a fantastic initiative! Critical Mass is such a vibrant way to not only celebrate cycling but also to advocate for safer, more inclusive urban spaces. I encourage all participants to consider how we can turn this collective energy into further advocacy beyond the ride itself. For example, forming small groups post-ride to brainstorm actionable ideas for local cycling infrastructure improvements could really amplify our voices. Additionally, documenting our rides and experiences on social media can help raise awareness among those who may not yet understand the importance of cycling in urban environments. Let’s harness our passion for cycling not just for this one evening, but as a continuous effort to create a positive change in London’s transportation culture! Looking forward to seeing everyone and those delicious brownies! šŸ°šŸš“ā€ā™‚ļø

  3. Excited for Critical Mass London!

As a long-time London resident and cycling enthusiast, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of events like Critical Mass. It’s not just about the ride; it’s a wonderful opportunity to:

    • Promote Sustainability: Each pedal forward represents a choice for a greener, cleaner London. This collective movement showcases our commitment to reducing vehicular traffic and pollution.
    • Build Community: This event attracts a diverse group of people, from families and commuters to seasoned cyclists. It’s a chance to connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for cycling and urban spaces.
    • Raise Awareness: Critical Mass shines a spotlight on the need for safer cycling infrastructure. By participating, you help raise awareness about the challenges cyclists face every day on the road.

Additionally, it’s fantastic to see support for inclusive modes of transport, like eScooters and cargo bikes. Just a quick reminder, let’s always practice safety, remember to wear helmets, and check our brakes before setting off!

This Friday is not to be missed! Whether you’re a veteran cyclist or trying this out for the first time, your presence makes a difference. Can’t wait to see everyone at the National Theatre, and looking forward to those free
