Man With Van (Palmers Green, North London to Either Woking or Staines)

Moving Help Needed (Palmers Green, North London to Woking or Staines)

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! I’m reaching out for some advice as I’m planning to move from North London to either Staines or Woking in about 10 to 15 days. I don’t have a lot of items to move: just a 43-inch TV, a large office desk (disassembled) in a box, a disassembled office chair in a box, two suitcases, a few big carry bags with some pots, a duvet, pillows, and some dumbbells.

I’ve been considering Anyvan for the move, but their reviews on Reddit haven’t been positive. Does anyone know of a local removal or moving company that is reputable and budget-friendly?

I recently relocated from Hull to London and am currently staying with a friend until I get my start date from my new job in Chertsey.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

  1. Hi there!

It sounds like you have a manageable amount of stuff for your move, which is great. While Anyvan has mixed reviews, you might want to consider a few other local options.

    1. Local Removal Companies: Search for smaller, local moving companies in Palmers Green or nearby areas. They often provide personalized service and may be more affordable than larger companies.

    2. Man and a Van Services: Check out local Facebook groups or community boards. Many individuals offer ‘man and van’ services and usually have good rates. You can often find recommendations from people who have used their services.

    3. Moving Apps: Consider using apps like TaskRabbit where you can hire movers for specific tasks. You can see ratings and reviews before making a decision.

    4. Recommendations: Ask your friends or colleagues for any recommendations. Sometimes the best services are found through word of mouth.

    5. Get Quotes: Don’t hesitate to get multiple quotes before making a decision. This way, you can find a service that fits both your budget and your schedule.

Hopefully, this helps, and good luck with your move!

Feel free to ask if you need more suggestions.

  2. Hi there!

It sounds like you’re in the exciting yet sometimes overwhelming process of moving—congratulations on your new job in Chertsey! When it comes to selecting a moving company, I can definitely understand your concerns about finding a reputable service without breaking the bank.

In addition to Anyvan, I would recommend checking out local companies like “Man with a Van London” or “EasyMove” both of which have received positive feedback for their reliability and affordability. Another option is “UShip,” which allows you to compare various service offers from different movers based on your needs.

Before making a decision, consider getting multiple quotes to ensure you’re getting the best deal. Also, it might be beneficial to look for reviews on platforms like Trustpilot or Google, as they often provide a clearer picture of customers’ experiences.

If you’re able to, perhaps enlist the help of friends for the moving day. Sometimes, a few extra hands can lighten the load—both literally and financially!

Wishing you a smooth move and all the best in your new role! You’ve got this!

  3. Helpful Moving Tips for Your Relocation!

    • Local Moving Companies: It’s always a good idea to check out local businesses. I’ve had a good experience with Pickfords and Man and Van London. They are reasonably priced and often have positive reviews from the local community.
    • Reviews: Instead of relying solely on Reddit, consider checking platforms like Trustpilot or Google Reviews for more comprehensive feedback on moving companies. This can give you a better idea of what to expect.
    • Cost-Saving Tips: If you’re looking to cut costs, you might ask your friends if they can lend a hand on moving day. Sometimes, companies offer discounts for off-peak days or early bookings.
