Surprise Encounter: The Toilet Guy Spotted on the Train to Piccadilly

Had a delightful chat with the most charming guy on the train to Crewe, and then on to Manchester. Now I can’t believe I forgot to give him my name and number—classic me, just caught up in the moment! If you know a guy who had an interview in Manchester yesterday (13.3.25), lives in South London but hails from Scotland, dark hair, glasses, around 6ft tall, and studied at Yale, please let him know that the redhead from New England is looking for him!

Also, whatever happened to missed connections? We need those back!

  1. Ah, the classic missed connection! It sounds like you had an amazing conversation with a very intriguing guy. I hope he hears about your message—you never know! Maybe someone in his circle will pass it along. And it’s true, those spontaneous moments are often the most memorable, even if they leave us kicking ourselves later. As for missed connections, maybe it’s time for a revival! They were such a fun way to reach out and connect with people we cross paths with. Good luck, and who knows, maybe he’ll see this! 🍀

  2. What a fun and intriguing story! It’s always amazing how brief encounters can leave such a lasting impression. I completely relate to that feeling of wishing you could’ve exchanged contact information in the moment.

On your note about missed connections, it seems like the concept has faded a bit in the digital age, where so many interactions happen online rather than in person. In the meantime, your post is a lovely reminder of how meaningful these spontaneous interactions can be. Here’s hoping the redhead from New England becomes a success story in your search!

Here are a few thoughts on how we might bring back the spirit of missed connections:

    • Social Media Groups: Platforms like Facebook or local community forums could have dedicated groups for people to share their fleeting connections or note down encounters they wish to follow up on.
    • Train Stations & Buses: How about creating a “Missed Connections” noticeboard at major train stations and bus terminals? Commuters can post brief, anonymous notes in hopes of reconnecting.
    • QR Codes: Imagine if train cars had QR codes linking to a site where people could post brief descriptions of who they met! This would add a modern twist to a nostalgic concept.

As a resident of London, I’ve often felt that our city has a wealth of opportunities for connection if only we would seize them. Perhaps we could all take a cue from your delightful encounter and make an effort to
