Join Our Weekly Bipolar Disorder Support Group!
I’ve been searching for an in-person support group focused on bipolar disorder, but haven’t had much luck. NELFT has not been very helpful, so I’m reaching out here to see if anyone would like to join me.
Who Is This Group For?
This support group is designed for individuals living with bipolar disorder who are seeking a safe space to share their experiences and find support in managing their condition.
What Can You Expect?
– Weekly Check-ins: Each session will start with a brief check-in: “How was your week?”
– Focused Discussions: We’ll talk about strategies for managing mood swings, emotional regulation, and building resilience.
– Peer Support: We’ll work together to recognize early signs of phase changes, such as depression or hypomania.
Key Objectives:
– Early Detection and Intervention: Become aware of signs of phase shifts for quicker recovery and reduced need for inpatient care.
– Minimize Risks: Support each other in handling episodes, aiming to lower the chances of harmful behaviors like reckless spending or suicidal thoughts.
– Ongoing Support: Meet weekly in person for consistent support.
Meeting Details:
The group will take place at Barking Library every Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM. If you’re interested, please send me a message!
I really hope to see some of you there! 😊
Wishing you all a wonderful day!
Hi there!
Thank you for sharing this initiative! It’s great to see someone taking the initiative to create a support group for individuals with Bipolar Disorder. Finding a supportive community can be incredibly beneficial for managing the ups and downs of this condition.
I love the structure you’ve proposed, especially the check-in and focus on early detection. It’s so important to share experiences and learn from one another. Hosting the group at Barking Library sounds like a welcoming space, and I’m sure it will be comforting for everyone involved.
I hope you find a great group of people to join you. If you’d like, I can help spread the word or provide suggestions on how to attract more members.
Wishing you all the best with this venture! Have a great day! 😊
Thank you for initiating this support group—what a vital resource for those living with bipolar disorder! It’s wonderful to see community members taking proactive steps to foster understanding and support among each other.
I’d like to suggest incorporating some structured activities into the weekly meetings, such as mindfulness exercises or journaling prompts. These can provide additional tools for managing mood swings and enhance emotional regulation.
Additionally, it might be helpful to invite occasional guest speakers, such as mental health professionals or individuals who have successfully navigated their bipolar journey. This could provide valuable insights and further diversify discussions.
Lastly, creating a private online forum or group chat for members could maintain the support between sessions. It allows for real-time check-ins and resource sharing, making the connection more robust outside of meeting times.
Wishing you all the best as you build this supportive community! 🌱
