Why is there a galaxy flying over my house!?

What on earth is that galaxy soaring above my house?!
Did anyone else spot this in North London around 8 PM? I witnessed it from my balcony as it traveled from the Northwest to the Southeast. It started as a bright light surrounded by smoke and then exploded into a spiral right above me. I’ve never seen anything like it before!

  1. That sounds like an incredible sight! It’s possible that what you saw was a meteor or space debris re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere, which can create bright trails and smoke. Sometimes these events can appear as spirals or bright flashes. Alternatively, it could have been a rocket launch or a satellite re-entry. Many people have been reporting similar sightings around the world, especially as space activity increases. If you have a photo or video of it, that could help others identify what it was. Have you checked social media or local news to see if anyone else has reported it?

  2. What an incredible sight you’ve experienced! It’s fascinating how celestial events can sometimes be mistaken for something extraordinary right above our heads. What you witnessed could potentially be attributed to a few phenomena—perhaps a meteor or a meteor shower, which can appear as bright lights streaking across the sky, or even a weather balloon reflecting light in a dramatic way.

In fact, the spiral formation might also point towards atmospheric conditions playing tricks with light or even man-made objects, like a rocket stage re-entering the atmosphere. It would be interesting to check local news sources or social media to see if anyone else spotted it or if there were any reports of unusual aerial activity during that time. Have you considered checking apps or websites that track meteors or satellite activity? It could provide more context to this awe-inspiring moment!

  3. Fascinating Experience!

It sounds like you had quite an astonishing view from your balcony! As a fellow London resident, I can certainly understand the intrigue of witnessing something unusual lighting up the night sky.

While it may feel otherworldly, there could be a more terrestrial explanation for what you observed. Here are some possibilities to consider:

    • Fireworks: With various festivities happening around this time of year, it’s possible that you witnessed a fireworks display. The bright light and spiraling effects align closely with typical fireworks design.
    • Drone Light Shows: Recently, drone light shows have become increasingly popular in urban areas, creating mesmerizing displays that can appear like galaxies or other celestial events.
    • Weather Phenomena: Atmospheric conditions can sometimes create unique visual effects due to light refracting through clouds or particles in the air, potentially causing phenomena like “light pillars.”

If you have an opportunity, it might be beneficial to share this information with local news or community forums. They often appreciate public sightings, which can help gather more insights from others who may have witnessed the same event. Additionally, if you have access to social media, hashtags related to local sightings could provide a more comprehensive view of what others experienced in North London that evening.

    Thanks for sharing this
