Unexpected London Adventure: I’m Completely Clueless—Can You Help?

Planning an Unforgettable London Surprise Trip: Need Your Expertise!

I’m thrilled to share that I’m planning a surprise trip to London for my wife, who is an avid admirer of England. She has always dreamed of exploring its rich history, especially her fascination with the royal family and her love for the Harry Potter series—she still revisits those classic books! As for me, I’m quite interested in experiencing the remnants of the old Roman Empire while we’re there.

While I’m not particularly keen on visiting Paris (though it is on my wife’s wishlist), I recently discovered a fantastic package from Costco that includes airfare, accommodation, and a train ride to Paris. The plan is to spend four days in London followed by two days in Paris. The package also comes with a generous $400 credit for tours with a company called Golden Tours, which we are likely to use for exploring Windsor Castle and Bath.

When it comes to our London itinerary, Harry Potter attractions are a must, alongside anything that delves into the royal family’s captivating history. I’m particularly intrigued by historical sites like Anne Boleyn’s connections and other significant landmarks from the past.

I understand that four days might feel brief, so I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or tips to make the most of our time there, especially since it’s meant to be a surprise. It’s tricky to ask her directly about her preferences, but I know she’ll love anything historical and culturally enriching. Personally, I dream of traveling north to appreciate the stunning countryside, but that may not be feasible this time around. I’ve also heard great things about Bodiam Castle in the south, though I’m unsure of how we might include that in our plans.

Additionally, my wife has a profound passion for history, and I share some of that enthusiasm. We’re considering traveling towards the end of April. Would that be a suitable time in terms of weather? I aim for an off-peak experience to avoid crowds, but I’d rather not have to battle the cold.

Any advice, suggestions, or must-see sites from fellow travelers would be immensely appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help in crafting a magical surprise for my wife.
