Camping reachable by tube

Campgrounds Accessible by Tube

Hi everyone! I’m on the hunt for a camping spot near London that I can easily get to by tube or possibly a combination of train and bus. I’m hoping to take my child and partner for an overnight camping trip where we can have a campfire or a BBQ. We plan to bring our own tent, but if there are options for renting larger tents, we’d be open to that as well. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Hi there! That sounds like a fun adventure! Here are a few options for camping near London that’s accessible by public transport:

    1. Lee Valley Campsite – Located near Waltham Abbey, it’s accessible by taking the train from Liverpool Street to Waltham Cross and then a short bus ride. They allow campfires in designated areas, and it’s a family-friendly spot with facilities.

    2. Thames Ditton Campsite – You can reach it by taking the train to Thames Ditton station. It’s a lovely spot near the River Thames, and you can bring your own tent. Just check their fire regulations before you go.

    3. Hollands Wood Campsite in the New Forest – Although a bit of a journey, you can take a train to Brockenhurst and then a short bus ride. They have plenty of space for tents and allow barbecues.

    4. Home Farm Camping, Epping Forest – Get the Central Line to Loughton and then a short bus ride. It’s a peaceful site right on the edge of the forest, and you can use your own tent and enjoy campfires.

Make sure to book ahead, especially during the weekends, and check their specific rules about fires and barbecues. Enjoy your camping trip!
