Can anyone tell me what these tolls are and how to pay them?

Does anyone know what these tolls are and how to pay them? I’m driving into London and Google Maps is indicating there are tolls, but I can’t find any information on what they are or how to pay them, aside from their locations in the directions.

  1. When driving into London, you might encounter two main types of tolls: the Congestion Charge and the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge.

    1. Congestion Charge: This charge applies to vehicles that enter certain areas of central London during specific hours (generally from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays). The current daily fee is £15. Payments can be made online, via the Congestion Charge app, at retail locations, or through automated phone services. It’s advisable to pay the charge in advance or on the same day to avoid fines.

    2. ULEZ Charge: This charge applies to older vehicles that do not meet specific emission standards. The ULEZ zone operates 24/7 and charges £12.50 for cars and vans that don’t meet the criteria. You can check if your vehicle is compliant on the Transport for London (TfL) website and pay the charge online if necessary.

For both charges, you can find more detailed information and make payments on the Transport for London (TfL) website. Be sure to check if your vehicle is eligible for any exemptions or discounts and plan your route accordingly!
