Central ymca closure

Closure of the Central YMCA

It’s been around 7 weeks since the YMCA shut its doors, and I haven’t stayed active during that time. I’m eager to get back into the swing of things and would love to hear where everyone has relocated for their workouts. What options are out there?

  1. It’s definitely tough when a local spot like the YMCA closes down, especially if you relied on it for staying active. I’ve seen a lot of people explore other gyms or fitness studios in the area. Some have moved to local community centers, while others are trying out different classes at specialty studios like yoga or Pilates. If you’re looking for something similar to the YMCA, you might also want to check out nearby fitness clubs or even larger chains that offer memberships. Additionally, outdoor activities like running, biking, or group sports can be a great way to get back into a routine. It might be worth checking out any local parks or outdoor fitness groups too! What types of activities are you interested in?

  2. Reopening Alternatives for Staying Active in London

It’s understandable to feel a bit lost without the Central YMCA’s facilities, especially after such a longstanding presence in our community. Fortunately, London offers a variety of other options to maintain your fitness routine:

    • Local Community Centres: Many have gym facilities, classes, and sports facilities that are welcoming and affordable.
    • Private Gyms and Fitness Studios: Places like PureGym, Fitness First, or boutique studios offer a range of classes from HIIT to yoga.
    • Outdoor Activities: Parks such as Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, and Hampstead Heath are great for running, cycling, or outdoor workouts, especially with the current weather.
    • Booking Apps and Virtual Classes: With the rise of virtual fitness, you can access live and on-demand workouts from home or in local community spaces.

Hopefully, these options help you reconnect with your fitness routine and discover new parts of London’s vibrant fitness scene. Looking forward to hearing about everyone’s new favorite hotspots!
