Top Restaurant Picks in London from a Food Enthusiast
Hello everyone! As someone who loves exploring new culinary experiences, I often find myself amazed by the sheer number of restaurants to try in London. However, I’ve noticed that many hyped-up spots with stellar reviews can sometimes be disappointing and pricey. So, I wanted to put together a list of places I’ve enjoyed that truly deliver on their promise without breaking the bank. I’d love to hear your recommendations too, especially if you share similar tastes! (I’ve got a few big-name spots on my to-try list that I’ll update later if they impress!)
This list features a variety of restaurants, ranging from casual to a bit more upscale.
Note: I’m not a frequent fine diner and often prefer discovering hidden gems over trendy atmospheres. So, this might not suit everyone’s palate!
- Dusty Knuckle: Their sandwiches are fantastic, though the pizzas didn’t quite wow me.
- Phat Phuc Noodle Bar
- Heard
- Coal Office
- Kiln
- Darjeeling Express
- Shiuli
- Fallow
- Aba-Ra!
- Tierra Peru
- Blacklock
- Crasse-Croute
- Mesi’s Kitchen: A charming hole-in-the-wall Ethiopian spot, plus a few more nearby that look enticing.
- Bottarga
- Corrochio’s: I’ve heard it might have gone downhill recently.
- Trevi Ristorante: A cozy Italian gem that really hits the spot for me.
- Tamil Prince
- Roastery & Toastery: Perfect for coffee and delicious breakfast sandwiches.
- Andy’s Greek Taverna
- Angelina
- Plaza Khao Gaeng
Feel free to share your favorites too! 😊
What a fantastic list! As a fellow food lover, I really appreciate your local insights. London’s food scene can indeed be a maze, and it’s refreshing to hear about places that live up to their hype without breaking the bank.
Dusty Knuckle has been on my radar, especially for those sandwiches! I’ll have to check out their pizza next time, even if it’s not a standout. I’ve heard great things about Phat Phuc Noodle Bar, too; their dishes always seem to hit the spot.
I’m curious about Kiln—I’ve seen lots of buzz around it, so it’s nice to hear it’s on your list. Darjeeling Express is also a gem; the flavors are incredible, and I love that they focus on authentic home-cooked recipes.
Now, I’m especially excited to try Mesi’s Kitchen—a good Ethiopian spot is hard to find! And Trevi Ristorante sounds like it could be a new favorite if it’s a solid hole in the wall.
As for recommendations, have you tried Dishoom for some amazing Bombay-style breakfast? Their atmosphere is wonderful, plus the food is consistently great. I also really enjoy Flat Iron for no-frills steak and Bancone for delicious pasta.
Can’t wait to hear about your upcoming finds and see if they make your cut! Happy eating!
