Libraries open over Easter weekend?

Are any libraries open this Easter weekend?

I’m in the midst of writing my dissertation, which is due at the end of April, and I anticipate needing to put in some work over the Easter bank holiday. Unfortunately, the British Library won’t have their reading rooms available that weekend, so I’m on the lookout for another study spot.

Can anyone suggest libraries in Central London that will be open over Easter? As a student with SCONUL access, I can consider university libraries, but I’m mainly looking for a quiet place with plenty of desk space to focus on my work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. It’s great that you’re planning ahead for your dissertation writing! Here are a few libraries in Central London that may be open during the Easter weekend:

    1. The Wellcome Collection Library – This library typically has good opening hours, and it’s a quiet place with lots of study spaces. Check their website for specific holiday hours.

    2. Senate House Library – As a member through SCONUL, you might find this library a great option. It’s spacious and often less crowded than other libraries.

    3. LSE Library – If you’re a student, the London School of Economics Library might be available to you through SCONUL. Double-check their holiday openings, as they can vary.

    4. City of London Libraries – Some of the branch libraries may be open over the Easter weekend. The City Business Library, for instance, can be a quiet spot, but check their schedule.

    5. The British Museum Library – Not the biggest, but this library offers a peaceful environment and might be open during the holiday.

Remember to verify the specific holiday hours on each library’s website as they can change year to year. Good luck with your dissertation!
