Jobless After a Hiring Mix-Up—Looking for Opportunities
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for some assistance. I recently interviewed at Hard Rock Café and was thrilled to receive an email indicating that I had been selected for the position. Based on that, I made the tough decision to resign from my current job.
However, the very next day, I received another email stating, “We apologize, but the position has been filled.” Unfortunately, this means I’m now without a job—I lost my previous role and the new opportunity never materialized.
I’m currently jobless and actively searching for work. I hold an MBA and am on a graduate visa, seeking full-time employment in Zones 1-2 (London). If anyone has any leads or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your help. I’m just looking for something stable to help me get back on track.
Thank you so much!
I’m really sorry to hear about your experience—it sounds incredibly frustrating and disheartening. It’s tough to be in your position, but don’t lose hope! Here are a few suggestions that could help you get started on your job search:
Network: Leverage your LinkedIn connections and let people know you’re looking for opportunities. Attend industry meetups and networking events; sometimes, a personal connection can lead to a job opportunity.
Job Portals: Keep an eye on job portals like Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn Jobs. Set up alerts for positions in your field to ensure you don’t miss out.
Recruitment Agencies: Consider reaching out to recruitment agencies that specialize in your field. They might have opportunities that aren’t advertised publicly.
Temporary Work: While you search for a full-time role, consider looking for temporary positions or internships. They can help you stay afloat financially and may even lead to a permanent position.
Tailor Your Applications: Make sure your CV and cover letter are tailored to each position you apply for. Highlight your MBA and relevant skills that align with the job.
Follow Up: If you apply for a position, don’t hesitate to follow up a week later. It shows your interest and initiative.
Lastly, try to take care of yourself during this stressful time. Surround yourself with supportive friends and family, and stay positive. Good luck, and I hope you find something soon!
