Looking for recommendations on finding quality cider!
I’ll be visiting London for the first time in a couple of weeks and would love some advice. I’m a huge fan of cider, especially hard cider, and I’m curious if there are specific pubs known for their cider selection. If I happen to walk into a random pub, how can I discern which cider to try? I’ve checked out previous posts on this topic, but it seems like many of the places listed on Google Maps are closed (what’s up with that?).
Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!
Absolutely, happy to help! London has a great cider scene, and while some places may have closures, there are still plenty of spots where you can enjoy excellent hard cider. Here are a few tips for finding good quality cider while you’re there:
The Nags Head in Bloomsbury also has a selection of traditional ciders.
Check Online Reviews: Before you go, check sites like Google Maps, Yelp, or Untappd for reviews and ratings of the cider offerings at various pubs. Sometimes even if a place states it’s closed, they might have reopened or have different operating hours.
Ask the Staff: When you enter a pub, don’t hesitate to ask the staff for recommendations. They often know the best ciders on tap and can guide you based on your preferences.
Look for Local and Craft Ciders: Many pubs will have a rotation of local or craft ciders. Choosing one from a local producer can often lead to a fresher and tastier experience.
Cider Festivals: If your trip coincides with any cider festivals or events, be sure to check them out! They often feature a wide selection of ciders and opportunities to learn more about them.
Explore Different Areas: Areas like West London (particularly Notting Hill) and East London (like Shoreditch) often have bars specializing in craft beverages, including cider.
Enjoy your trip, and happy cider tasting!
