Need help narrowing down my week’s holiday in London

Planning the Perfect Week in London: Seeking Suggestions

As I prepare for an exciting solo adventure in London this August, I find myself in need of some guidance to make the most of my week-long holiday. I’ve already secured my flights and accommodation—right near Russell Square station—and I’m ready to dive into the planning process. The vibrant energy of the city has me eager to explore, but I could use some help honing in on my itinerary.

A Little About My Interests

As a first-time visitor, I’m aware that it’s impossible to fit everything in, and while traditional tourist spots are on my radar, I’m keen to find experiences beyond the usual attractions. My heart beats for museums, but I also have a fascination for all things horror, weird, and wonderfully creepy. If you have any quirky recommendations, please share!

Free Attractions on My List

I’ve compiled a list of free visits that I’m excited about:

  • National Gallery (I plan to visit at least twice!)
  • British Museum (once, maybe twice)
  • Natural History Museum
  • Tate Modern
  • Borough Market (instead of Camden Town)
  • Chinatown
  • British Library
  • SOAS Gallery
  • Notting Hill
  • Wallace Collection
  • National Portrait Gallery
  • Possibly Greenwich?
  • Casual strolls, walking tours, and concerts
  • Soane Museum

Guided Tours

To add a bit of structure to my trip, I’m looking to incorporate a guided tour as well:

  • Highgate Cemetery

Attractions with the London Pass

While I’m still deciding on the exact duration of the London Pass—leaning towards a 4-day pass—I’m considering a few major attractions:

  • Westminster Abbey
  • Saint Paul’s Cathedral
  • London Bridge Experience
  • Frameless Experience
  • Tower of London
  • Shakespeare’s Globe

Some options like Madame Tussauds and the London Zoo have been crossed off my list after a bit of reflection. I also plan to venture into local pubs solo—after all, what better way to soak up the culture?

A Word on Accessibility

Having recently traveled to Florence, where everything felt wonderfully walkable, I’m aware that navigating London will be a different experience. How realistic is my ambitious itinerary? Am I trying to do too much in just one week? Your insights would be invaluable as I finalize my plans.

Thank you to everyone who has offered advice thus far! I’m truly looking forward to immersing myself in the charm and vibrancy of
