Late Night Doorbell Dilemma: A Suspicious Delivery?
Living in a shared flat between Stockwell and Brixton can sometimes bring unexpected surprises, but a recent late-night incident had me feeling uneasy. Allow me to share what happened and seek your insights.
Just past 11:40 PM, our doorbell rang not once, but three times within a span of two minutes. I peered out the window and noticed a Deliveroo cyclist who quickly mounted his bike and rode away. Initially, I dismissed it as a case of mistaken address – a minor annoyance, really.
However, a little over 12 minutes later, the doorbell rang again, this time only once. Curious, I went to look outside once more. To my surprise, it was the same cyclist, who was now shining his phone’s flashlight into the keyhole of our garden gate and fiddling with the lock.
It’s worth mentioning that about eight months ago, one of our bikes was stolen from the garden because the gate had been inadvertently left unlocked. Since then, we’ve enjoyed a sense of security, but this new behavior put us on high alert.
Compounding our discomfort was a recent tragic shooting incident in Stockwell involving an assailant who had reportedly been disguised as a Deliveroo driver. While I strive not to succumb to paranoia about delivery personnel out at all hours, the sight of this cyclist examining our gate was unsettling.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar. Is it just a harmless mistake or something worth worrying about? For now, we remain hopeful that this encounter was innocent. Your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated!
