The Wound

A Touching Encounter: Art and Remembrance at The Tower of London

During our recent visit to London from the United States, we stumbled upon a poignant temporary art installation at The Tower of London. This unexpected experience left a lasting impression on me, and I felt fortunate that my young boys were able to witness it as well.

The artwork was not only visually striking but also served as a powerful reminder of the significant impact of remembrance in our lives. Given the complexities of today’s world, it carried a weight that was both stirring and troubling. It made me reflect on how the United States could benefit from embracing symbols of remembrance, such as the Poppy, with the same reverence that Londoners do.

Leaving the installation, I felt transformed; the experience broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the collective memory that art can evoke. Thank you, London, for sharing this meaningful moment with us. It’s a lesson in the value of memory and reflection that I will carry with me.
