Over 30s hip hop/garage nights in London?

Discovering London’s Hip Hop and Garage Scene for the Over-30s

Hello everyone!

I hope this post finds you well. I’m reaching out to tap into the collective wisdom of this community as my sister is set to tie the knot this summer. To celebrate this exciting milestone, I’d love to treat her and a few friends to a memorable night out in London.

As we’re all approaching our 40s, I’ve noticed that many of the beloved clubs and nights we used to frequent, such as Visions, Work It, Bump, Bar 512, and Shorebitch, have sadly closed their doors.

With that in mind, I’m on the lookout for vibrant garage, hip hop, or RnB nights that cater to a slightly older crowd in the city. We’re planning to go out on May 31st, so any recommendations for venues or events would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help. Let’s keep the celebration lively and unforgettable!

  1. Great initiative to celebrate in London’s vibrant music scene!

As a long-time London resident with a deep appreciation for the city’s dynamic nightlife, I’d like to suggest a few options that could add an extra spark to your celebration. Although some of the classic venues have closed, the city still hosts fantastic nights catering to the over-30s crowd, especially in the hip hop and garage genres.

    Consider checking out places like:

    • The Nest in Dalston – Known for its welcoming atmosphere and themed nights, often featuring garage and R&B acts that appeal to a mature yet energetic crowd.
    • Kamio in Soho – A stylish bar that hosts regular hip hop and R&B nights, perfect for celebrating special occasions with a lively yet sophisticated vibe.
    • Hootananny Brixton – While famous for its eclectic events, it frequently hosts garage and R&B nights that attract a diverse and loyal clientele.

Additionally, keep an eye on social media platforms and websites like Resident Advisor or Skiddle for pop-up nights or special events around your preferred date. These often cater to the more seasoned music lovers and can provide a truly memorable experience.

Wishing your sister a fantastic wedding and an unforgettable night out in London!
