Navigating the Thames Path: Choosing the Best Bank for Your Walk
Embarking on a walking adventure along the Thames Path from Hampton Court to the Thames Barrier presents a thrilling opportunity to explore the scenic beauty of this iconic river. Currently, I’m at a crossroads while planning my route between Hammersmith and Putney Bridges, and I’m seeking some insights on which bank would offer a more enjoyable experience.
Through my journey thus far, I have traversed the north bank from Hampton Court to Kingston and explored the south bank down to Richmond Lock, which, unfortunately, has restricted access. Continuing on the north side, I was able to reach Kew, and now I’m eager to finalize my path towards Chiswick.
As I plan my next stretches, I will venture south towards Chiswick, then north to Barnes, and finally return south to Hammersmith. From my research and what I’ve gathered so far, it seems that the south bank is more accessible for subsequent stretches of the Thames Path.
If you have recommendations or experiences regarding the walk between Hammersmith and Putney, particularly which bank might be more enjoyable—whether it’s the vibrant views along the south or the more tranquil pathways of the north—your input would be greatly appreciated! As I continue to map out this remarkable journey, insights from fellow walkers and avid Thames Path enthusiasts would certainly enhance the experience. Thank you in advance for your guidance!
