Mysterious Encounters on Public Transport: What Just Happened?

Recently, I had a rather puzzling experience while traveling on the tube that left me both intrigued and slightly unsettled. As I was quietly minding my own business, a young man brushed past me and, in a fleeting moment, tapped his phone against mine.

Curiosity piqued, I glanced briefly at his screen and noticed a prominent NFC/WiFi logo displayed against an otherwise blank white background. It was clear he had a specific intention, as he quickly moved away without acknowledging me when I called out to him.

This interaction felt deliberate; there was no one else around, and it wasn’t a case of accidental contact. After reviewing my own phone, I didn’t notice anything unusual.

This encounter raised several questions. Could this be a new form of digital marketing, perhaps an electronic flyer sent directly to my device? Or could it be something more concerning?

I’m reaching out to the community for insights. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? What, if anything, could this mean? Your thoughts and experiences would be greatly appreciated!
