Have you ever considered taking up a new sport, only to hesitate because you feel you’re too late to the game? At 27, you might think that the time for starting fresh in a sport like football has passed, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Recently, I made the leap and decided to explore the world of football in London.

While I’ve always enjoyed watching football, my actual playing experience was limited to a few casual 5v5 matches over the past few years. Last week, I took a bold step forward and joined a 7v7 corporate league. What I thought would be a fun game quickly turned into a humbling experience—I struggled to keep up with the more skilled players on the field.

Now, I find myself eager to improve and wondering what steps I can take to become a better player. Thankfully, I’ve discovered that there are plenty of opportunities for adults like me who want to immerse themselves in football without the pressure of competing at an advanced level.
