Free Train Tickets: London to Edinburgh 3-10/6

Complimentary Train Tickets from London to Edinburgh: June 3rd to June 10th

Greetings, travelers!

I recently purchased train tickets for a Lumo service journey from London to Edinburgh, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I can no longer make the trip. Instead of letting these tickets go to waste, I am offering them for free to anyone who can use them, with a particular preference for students.

Ticket Details:

  • Outbound Journey:
    Departure: June 3rd, 20:27 from King’s Cross
Arrival: June 4th, 00:44 at Edinburgh Waverley

  • Return Journey:
Departure: June 10th, 19:58 from Edinburgh Waverley
    Arrival: June 11th, 00:54 at King’s Cross

If you’re genuinely planning to use the tickets, please reach out. I want to ensure they find a good home rather than simply being taken because they are free. It’s also important to note that you can request just one of the tickets if that suits your travel plans better.

As for the reason behind giving these tickets away, the experience with Lumo’s luggage courier service turned out to be quite costly. Initially, shipping my bike appeared affordable, but after they requested the dimensions of my bike box, the price skyrocketed from £45 to £162! Consequently, I had to explore other options for transporting my bike.

If you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch. Happy travels!

  1. Firstly, what a generous offer! It’s great to see residents helping fellow travelers in such a practical way. For those interested in using these tickets, I’d recommend considering the following:

    • Plan Ahead: Since the tickets are for specific outbound and return times, make sure your schedule aligns with the proposed travel dates and times.
    • Ticket Transfer: Confirm the process for transferring the tickets securely, especially if they are digital – some companies require confirmation or a code upon boarding.
    • Alternative Transportation: If the tickets aren’t suitable, London’s extensive travel options, like buses and the Tube, are quite affordable and flexible for getting to King’s Cross station.
    • Bike Transportation: Regarding the luggage courier issue, be aware that bike shipping costs can vary wildly, especially with dimensions and weight. It might be worth exploring local bike courier services or even renting a bike at the destination for a cost-effective alternative.

Thanks again for offering these tickets — such acts of kindness Portsmouth local communities and travelers alike. Safe travels to whoever takes these up, and hopefully this helps someone make an exciting trip to Edinburgh!

  2. Potential for Richer London-Edinburgh Travel Experiences

Hi there! As a fellow London resident, I appreciate your generosity in offering these train tickets to someone who can truly benefit from them. It’s a great reminder of how spontaneous and eco-friendly train travel can be for exploring the UK’s beautiful cities.

If I may add, while train journeys between London and Edinburgh are quick and comfortable, it’s also worth considering some tips to maximize your trip:

    • Plan your sightseeing: Edinburgh is rich in history, with landmarks like Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and Arthur’s Seat. Consider scheduling your visits to enjoy the city’s unique charm.
    • Explore off the beaten path: Aside from the popular spots, Edinburgh has hidden gems like Dean Village or the Botanic Gardens, which can offer a more relaxed experience.
    • Travel light and smart: Since you mentioned issues with luggage courier costs, perhaps bringing a compact backpack might simplify your journey and reduce expenses.
    • Look into rail passes: If you plan more trips within the UK, rail passes like ScotRail or Railcard discounts could make future travel more affordable.

Thanks again for your kindness — it’s small acts like these that make our community travels more connected and considerate. Wishing you a smooth recovery from your biking
