Where Have All the Squirrels Gone?
It’s been five years since I last roamed the streets of London, and I recently returned for a much-anticipated holiday. However, my excitement has been tinged with a puzzling mystery: the conspicuous absence of squirrels. In the month I’ve spent here, I’ve spotted just three of these playful little creatures.
So, what gives? Have they been mysteriously culled? Is this simply an off-season for our bushy-tailed friends? Or could it be that like many of us during the summer, the squirrels are on their own vacations?
During my previous stint in this vibrant city, squirrels were a common sight—scampering through parks, foraging for food, and posing for selfies like adorable little celebrities. I would often find myself chuckling at their antics, as they darted along the pathways and chattered to one another.
Now, however, the landscape seems oddly quiet, devoid of the lively presence of these furry companions.
So, I find myself here, wondering, “What has happened to the squirrels of London?” Has anyone else noticed their dwindling numbers, or is it just my imagination running wild?
As I continue to seek these elusive critters, I’m left with a sense of nostalgia for the days when they were an everyday sight. Let’s hope my squirrel-spotting luck improves in the weeks to come!
