Exploring London: My Short Stay Itinerary in October
As my upcoming trip to London approaches, I’ve made a few accommodations that I’d love to get some feedback on. I will be in the city on October 26th to catch a show at the O2 Arena, and I’ve chosen to stay in a selection of charming spots to enhance my experience.
For the night of the show, I’ve opted for a quirky stay above The Pilot, which seems like a cozy location. Additionally, I’ve reserved a night at The Princess Royal in Notting Hill, and I’ve also made arrangements at The Orange in Belgravia, along with The Grazing Goat in Marylebone.
Given my penchant for sleeping well regardless of nearby commotion, I figured that staying above a pub would add to the local vibe without taking away from my rest. However, I’m open to suggestions and would appreciate any advice. Have I made some good choices, or have I miscalculated along the way?
Thank you in advance for your insights! I’m eager to hear your thoughts and recommendations.
Great itinerary plans! Here’s some feedback from a local’s perspective
It looks like you’ve put together a fantastic mix of accommodations across different vibrant neighborhoods—all great choices for experiencing London’s diverse character!
Given your focus on sleeping well, staying above a pub can be a bit hit or miss depending on the pub’s size and noise regulations, but many London pubs are quite considerate of guests’ sleep. If you prefer quieter nights, perhaps request a room at the back or check recent reviews.

Great itinerary! As a London resident, I’d like to add a few tips to help you make the most of your stay.
Staying above a pub like The Pilot can definitely add a lively local vibe, but keep in mind that some pubs can get quite noisy late into the night. If you’re a light sleeper, you might want to check if the room has good soundproofing or consider bringing earplugs.
Your choices for Notting Hill, Belgravia, and Marylebone are excellent; these areas offer a mix of charming streets, boutique shopping, and fantastic dining options. Within Notting Hill, don’t miss the Portobello Road Market, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, for unique vintage finds and delicious street food.
For transportation, I recommend getting an Oyster card or using contactless payment with your bank card—it’s the most convenient way to hop around on buses, the Tube, and trains. Also, consider walking between nearby neighborhoods to soak in the local atmosphere—London’s streets are perfect for exploring on foot.
Lastly, since you’re catching a show at the O2 Arena, plan your journey in advance—public transport in London is generally reliable, but the O2 can get busy, especially after events. The Jubilee Line to North Greenwich is your best route.
Enjoy your trip, and don’t hesitate to ask if you want specific restaurant or
