First time i see a Church as a Co-work/caffe place! London

Discovering a Unique Workspace: A Café in a Church in London

During a recent visit to London, I stumbled upon a truly intriguing venue that defied my expectations: a church that doubles as a co-working space and café. The establishment, known as Host Café, is nestled within the historic walls of St Mary Aldermary on Watling Street, and my experience there was nothing short of enchanting.

Curiosity led me to inquire with the staff about the possibility of working in this unique setting. To my delight, they shared that utilizing the café for work has been a common practice for nearly three decades! As someone from Portugal, I was captivated by the tranquility and serenity of the space, which provided an excellent backdrop for focus and creativity.

While I don’t adhere to Christianity, I hold a deep respect for its teachings and traditions, making this experience all the more interesting. Back home, such an innovative blending of sacred space and modern functionality is unheard of.

This charming café is not just about the coffee; it’s about the atmosphere — warm, inviting, and almost magical. It felt like a sanctuary where one could unwind, contemplate, or be productive without the usual hustle and bustle of typical office environments.

Have you discovered any unexpected gems like this while traveling? Places that meld history, community, and modern life are always worth sharing!
