Building Community and Breaking Barriers: The Rise of Shoulder to Shoulder Men’s Community
At Shoulder to Shoulder (S2S), our mission centers around transforming the narrative surrounding men—promoting connection, purpose, and positive engagement within our community. Since our inception, we’ve worked tirelessly to foster a supportive environment where men can come together, share experiences, and grow.
Our journey began modestly on Reddit, where in October of last year, we launched an initiative inviting men from across the city to participate in our regular free walks and discussions in Hyde Park. These bi-weekly gatherings quickly gained momentum, bringing men from diverse backgrounds together in a casual, open setting aimed at fostering genuine connection.
Over time, our community has experienced significant growth, culminating in a recent milestone: an invitation to speak with London’s Mayor’s Office. We had the honor of discussing key issues facing boys and men in London with Mayor Sadiq Khan. During this engagement, we explored critical themes such as the importance of connection among men, the challenges of imposter syndrome, and finding purpose through advocacy and volunteer work.
A notable part of our conversation focused on the Mayor’s efforts to educate and inspire men to support boys and teenagers vulnerable to the influences of the Manosphere. We believe that these conversations are vital in reshaping societal perceptions and empowering men to take active roles in positive change.
This moment marked a significant achievement for our community—a testament to the impact of collective effort and shared purpose. We remain committed to keeping our community informed and engaged, especially our supporters on Reddit.
