Any other London organ donors fancy a coffee?

Connecting London Organ Donors: Let’s Share Our Stories Over Coffee

Deciding to become an organ donor is a profound and impactful choice, one that can transform lives in ways many of us never initially imagined. I personally experienced this journey in December 2024 when I donated a kidney to my mother, who lives overseas in Asia. Thanks to a smooth recovery, I’ve comfortably re-integrated into my life here in London, feeling grateful and fulfilled.

Since the transplantation took place abroad, I haven’t connected with many other donors in my age group within the local community. As a woman in my 30s living in Islington, I recognize how valuable it could be to meet others who have made similar life-changing decisions. Sharing experiences, tips, and simply chatting about the realities of donation can be incredibly reassuring and inspiring.

Last year, I participated in the British Transplant Donor Run, an inspiring event that celebrates organ donation and raises awareness. However, I found myself feeling a bit shy about initiating conversations during the event. So, I thought, why not reach out more directly?

If you’re a fellow London-based organ donor—especially in or near Islington—I’d love to connect. Whether it’s for a quick chat, grabbing a coffee, or just exchanging messages, building a local community could support us all on this remarkable journey.

If this resonates with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Let’s share our experiences, encourage one another, and continue advocating for the incredible gift of organ donation in our community.
