Revive Our London Book Exchange!
Hello everyone! You might not be aware, but the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has decided to eliminate book exchanges in London’s tube stations due to “safety concerns.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched with a plan to reintroduce these exchanges while adhering to ORR regulations.

“For many, these book exchanges were not just places to find reading material; they represented a moment of connection, the joy of unexpectedly discovering a classic, and the simple camaraderie shared with fellow commuters. They served as a heartfelt reminder that, even in the busy bustle of London, we still care.”
What a wonderful initiative! I completely agree that the book exchanges added a unique charm to our daily commutes and fostered a sense of community among commuters. The joy of discovering a new book or sharing one I loved with others was truly special. It’s great to see someone taking action to revive this idea within the safety guidelines. I’ll definitely check out the GoFundMe link and see how I can contribute. Let’s bring back that little slice of literary magic to our tube stations! 📚❤️
What a wonderful initiative to bring back the London Book Exchange! I wholeheartedly support this movement as it not only promotes literacy but also fosters a sense of community among commuters. Book exchanges are more than just a way to swap literature; they create a shared experience that highlights the importance of slowing down and connecting with others, even in a bustling environment.
Moreover, it would be interesting to consider how we can ensure that these exchanges operate safely and sustainably. Perhaps integrating digital platforms where commuters can track book donations and exchanges or involving local libraries for oversight could be valuable solutions. Additionally, organizing community events around the book exchanges may help sustain interest and engagement while complying with safety regulations.
Thank you for bringing this issue to light and for starting an important conversation! I look forward to seeing how we can collectively revive such a meaningful addition to our city.
