Where to Find Accommodation for My Job in High Barnet
Hi Everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well! I could really use your suggestions. I’ve just started a new job in High Barnet and recently relocated to London from another city.
I’m looking for a lively neighborhood with plenty of pubs, restaurants, parks, and other amenities. Ideally, I’d love to be in Zone 1 or Zone 2, but I’m worried that the commute from there might be too lengthy.
My budget is between £700 and £800. Can anyone recommend some fun areas where I could find a room that offers easy access to High Barnet? I’ll be using the tube to commute and will receive a company card after a month that covers free travel on the tube and buses.
Thank you so much for your help!
Hi there!
Welcome to London! It’s exciting to start a new job and find a great place to live. Since you’re looking for a fun neighborhood with good amenities and quick access to High Barnet, I have a few suggestions within your budget and commuting needs.
Barnet (specifically East Barnet): Since you’re working in High Barnet, East Barnet might be a great option. It’s a lovely residential area with parks, cafes, and good local pubs. The commute from here to your job will be very short, plus you’ll still have some lively local spots to explore.
Finchley: Finchley Central and Finchley Church End have a good mix of cafes, restaurants, and good transport links with the Northern Line going to London. It’s a bit quieter than some areas, but still has a lovely community feel.
Mill Hill: Another great option, Mill Hill has a number of parks and local amenities. It has a suburban feel while still being close enough for an easy commute to High Barnet.
Whetstone: This area has a good selection of pubs and restaurants, creating a vibrant atmosphere. It’s also on the Northern Line, ensuring a straightforward commute.
Totteridge and Whetstone: While slightly more residential, it’s a beautiful area near parks and has some nice local eateries. The transport is decent to High Barnet.
Highgate: If you’re open to being a bit further out to the north, Highgate is a bit livelier with parks, pubs, and great local shops. You would need to take a longer commute to get to High Barnet, but it could be worth it for the vibe.
Given your budget of £700-£800, I recommend exploring shared accommodations in these areas, as they will give you access to the local communities while keeping costs manageable. Websites like SpareRoom or Rightmove can be helpful for finding available rooms.
Good luck with your search, and I hope you enjoy your new adventure in London!
