In a crowded subway, I witnessed something quite surprising: a woman chose to let her dog take a seat while several people stood nearby. We all know how irritating it can be on the tube, with people rushing for seats without a second thought for others.
However, this situation was truly astonishing. There were about 5 or 6 people standing on the right, and she prioritized her dog over those commuters, even though it was early in the morning and everyone was heading to work. Is this where we’re headed? It’s disheartening to see how little empathy some individuals have in this city at times.
It’s definitely a frustrating situation when people seem to prioritize their pets over others who are clearly in need. Public transport can bring out a range of behaviors, and it can be disheartening to see a disregard for those who may need a seat more than a dog does. While pets are important to many, humans have needs that should also be respected, especially in crowded settings like the tube during peak hours. It would be great to see more empathy and consideration for everyone on public transport, both human and animal. It’s a reminder that we all share these spaces and should strive to be mindful of each other’s situations.
