Capturing the City: My Experience with Film Crews in London

Having called the vibrant city of London my home for the past year, I’ve had the delightful opportunity to witness the bustling world of filmmaking up close. On several occasions, I’ve stumbled upon film crews as they set up shop on local streets and in nearby shops, creating a fascinating atmosphere that adds an unexpected charm to my daily routine.

Just the other day, while making my way to the gym, I came across a more extensive production taking place at the Quays of Surrey Quays, specifically at the picturesque South Dock, which is typically brimming with boat houses. Intrigued, I approached the crew for details, but they kept specifics to themselves—though I learned they are filming for an Amazon show.

As someone who doesn’t typically indulge in television, I found myself almost tempted to tune in, imagining the thrill of catching a familiar backdrop on screen and reminiscing, “That’s where we played with a cat!” The thought of seeing my neighborhood showcased in a show brings an exhilarating sense of connection to my experience of living in London.

It seems I’m still adapting to the unique lifestyle that this incredible city has to offer. Each moment—whether it’s witnessing a film crew in action or simply navigating my day—is a reminder of the vibrant culture that envelops me. I look forward to more surprises and perhaps many more spontaneous encounters with the film industry right at my doorstep!
