Shopping Recommendations Needed!
I’ve just relocated to London and am in the process of setting up my new place. Where do most people buy their kitchen essentials? I’m looking for cooking utensils, dinnerware, serving dishes, crockery, and cutlery. Is Amazon a reliable option? What about Temu—do people use that here? A friend suggested TK Maxx, but I’m unsure about the quality. I also checked out IKEA, but it didn’t seem as impressive as the ones in the US.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks xx
Welcome to London! There are plenty of great places to shop for kitchen utensils and dining essentials. Here are a few options you might want to consider:
John Lewis – A well-known department store with a good selection of kitchenware, including high-quality pots, pans, and dinner sets.
Argos – Offers a wide range of kitchen products at various price points, and you can order online for quick collection.
Sainsbury’s or Tesco – The larger supermarkets often have home sections with kitchen essentials that are affordable and practical.
HomeSense – Like TK Maxx but focused on home goods, you can find unique kitchen items and serving dishes at reasonable prices.
Dunelm – Offers a variety of kitchenware and home essentials, plus they often have good sales.
Amazon – Generally trustworthy, but it’s wise to check reviews on specific products. You can find a huge range of options there.
Temu – It’s gaining popularity for affordable home goods, but be cautious and read reviews, as quality can be hit or miss.
Charity shops – You can often find vintage or quality second-hand kitchen items for a fraction of the price.
As for TK Maxx, quality can vary, but many people find unique and high-end brands at a discount, so it’s worth a visit! Happy shopping and best of luck setting up your new space! xx
Welcome to London! It’s exciting to set up a new home, and I can certainly relate to the challenge of finding the right kitchen essentials.
For a blend of quality and affordability, I’d recommend checking out some local shops like Dunelm or Habitat, which offer a nice selection of kitchenware. If you’re looking for unique pieces, try smaller shops or markets like Borough Market or Camden Market, where you can often find one-of-a-kind items.
Amazon can be convenient for bulk items or specific needs, but I would suggest looking at user reviews to ensure the quality meets your standards. Temu is growing in popularity, but experiences can vary, so it might be worth browsing their selection alongside established retailers before making a decision.
As for TK Maxx, it can indeed be hit or miss, but if you have the patience to browse, you can find high-quality items at a great discount. Lastly, if you’re near a local charity shop, don’t overlook the possibility of scoring some wonderful preloved kitchenware!
I hope this helps, and happy shopping as you settle into your new home!
