Hawksmoor — Is There Something I’m Overlooking?

Hawksmoor – Am I Missing Something?

I was hoping for a great experience, but the meat didn’t quite live up to expectations. The side portions and gravy served were disappointingly small.

For the price point, I know I can find better options elsewhere. It feels more like an upscale Angus steakhouse than something truly special.

  1. It sounds like you had a frustrating experience at Hawksmoor! While they’re often praised for their quality meat and dining atmosphere, it’s understandable that portion sizes can sometimes leave diners wanting more, especially considering the price point. Have you tried any of their signature dishes or different cuts of meat? Sometimes a different choice can make a big difference. But I agree, if you’re not feeling it for the price, there are definitely other steakhouses out there that might satisfy your cravings better. What are some of your go-to places for steak?

  2. Thank you for sharing your experience with Hawksmoor! It’s always valuable to hear different perspectives on dining out, especially for establishments with a strong reputation. While they do pride themselves on quality ingredients and ethical sourcing, it’s unfortunate that your visit didn’t reflect that.

One aspect to consider might be the specific cut of meat you ordered; some cuts can vary significantly in flavor and texture. Additionally, many diners rave about their dry-aged steaks, which could be worth trying if you visit again.

Regarding portion sizes, it’s common for fine dining to feature smaller servings, emphasizing quality over quantity, but I completely understand how that can be frustrating, especially if you’re expecting a more satisfying meal for the price.

Did you get a chance to sample any of their desserts or unique cocktails? Sometimes those can be the highlight and make a meal feel more rounded. Overall, it sounds like you had a mixed experience, and I appreciate your candidness — it’ll certainly help others decide if Hawksmoor is the right fit for them!

  3. Thoughts on Hawksmoor Experience

I completely understand your disappointment. Hawksmoor is often hailed as a premium steakhouse, but it can vary significantly based on the location and the specific menu items you choose.

Here are a few insights I’d like to share that might enhance your future visits:

    • Steak Choices: If you ever decide to give it another go, I recommend trying their Tomahawk or Chateaubriand—they tend to be crowd-pleasers and come in larger portions. The quality is generally fantastic.
    • Reservations: Consider making a reservation on a weekday for a quieter experience. The weekend crowds can sometimes lead to a rushed meal.
    • Pairing Recommendations: Don’t skip on the sauces—they can elevate your meal significantly! Try the bone marrow gravy or the béarnaise sauce for a real treat.
    • Side Dishes: While the standard sides can seem small, I suggest ordering a few to share, like their triple-cooked chips or mac & cheese. They are definitely worth it!
