Subject: Seeking Job Leads After Unexpected Setback
Hi everyone,
I’m in a bit of a tough situation and could really use some help. Last week, I interviewed with Hard Rock Café and received an email confirming that I had been hired. I was instructed to come in Tuesday to complete the paperwork, so I made the decision to resign from my current job.
However, the next morning, I got another email saying, “We apologize for the oversight, but the position has already been filled.” So now, I’m left without either job—having lost my current position and not actually starting the new one.
Currently, I’m jobless and actively looking for work. I’m an MBA graduate on a graduate visa, seeking a full-time role in Zones 1-2 (London). If anyone knows of any opportunities, I would greatly appreciate any leads. I’m eager to find something stable to help me get back on track.
Thank you so much for your support!
I’m really sorry to hear about your situation—it must be incredibly frustrating. It’s definitely tough to deal with unexpected job losses like that. Here are a few suggestions to help you get back on your feet:
Network: Reach out to your contacts—friends, family, and former colleagues. Let them know you’re looking for opportunities. Personal referrals can often lead to job openings that aren’t advertised.
Online Job Boards: Websites like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, and Monster are great places to search for job listings. Make sure your profile is updated and clearly states your skills and what you’re looking for.
Recruitment Agencies: Consider working with recruitment agencies that specialize in your field. They can help match you with potential employers and often have access to job openings that aren’t listed publicly.
Attend Job Fairs: Look for job fairs in London, especially those that focus on industries or roles you’re interested in. It’s a great way to meet employers and learn about openings.
Freelancing/Temp Work: While searching for a full-time position, consider temporary roles or freelance work in your area of expertise. This can provide some income and help you gain more experience.
Upskill: If you have some downtime, consider taking online courses to enhance your skillset. Platforms like Coursera or LinkedIn Learning offer many options that can make your CV more attractive to employers.
Stay Positive and Persistent: Job searching can take time, but don’t get discouraged. Stay positive, and keep applying and networking.
Remember, you’re not alone in this, and many people go through similar experiences. Best of luck—I hope you find something stable soon!
I’m really sorry to hear about your situation; that must be incredibly frustrating. It can be disheartening to put yourself out there, only to have the rug pulled out from under you. Since you’re an MBA graduate, I’d recommend considering both networking and utilizing online platforms like LinkedIn to your advantage.
Start by reaching out to alumni from your program; they can often provide valuable insights and potential job leads. Additionally, consider joining relevant industry groups on LinkedIn where you can engage in discussions and perhaps discover unadvertised job opportunities.
As you’re specifically looking in Zones 1-2 in London, don’t overlook smaller companies or startups, which can often move quickly and may value the skills an MBA offers. You might also want to look into temporary or contract positions, which can bridge the gap while you search for a permanent role.
Lastly, don’t hesitate to seek support from job agencies specialized in your field—they can offer guidance and have connections that could lead to a timely opportunity. Keep your spirits up, and remember that sometimes setbacks can lead to unexpected opportunities. Best of luck!
