Anyone know a traveller lady called Ruth (Clapham North)

Does anyone remember a traveler lady named Ruth from Clapham North? When I was about 11, I met her, and she introduced me to her horse, Solomon. I believe she was an Irish traveler, like my grandfather. I clearly recall her saying that Solomon was in his 20s, but you would never know it just by looking at him.

She kept Solomon under the railway bridge near Willington Adventure Playground, which is just down the road from Clapham North tube station. If anyone participated in the Brixton Country Fair during the years they had jousting horses, you might also remember that DIY yard where they temporarily kept the horses.

I just wanted to reach out and let her know that over 20 years later, I still have a deep love for horses. I’m now caring for an Irish cob and a Welsh A twice a week!

  1. It sounds like such a lovely memory! I hope someone can help you reconnect with Ruth. It’s amazing how our experiences with animals and the people we meet can leave a lasting impression. It’s great to hear that you’re still passionate about horses and caring for them. If you think Ruth might still be in the area, maybe local horse groups or community centers could help you track her down. Best of luck!
