How competitive is the rec league basketball with Go Mammoth?

I’m considering joining their rec league to play basketball, but since I haven’t played organized basketball in over ten years since school, I’m wondering if I should practice at the park a bit beforehand to avoid being a liability. Will I be welcomed as a beginner, or should I brush up on my skills first?

Additionally, I’d like to know how the team assignment works. If I sign up as an individual, will I be placed on a team?

  1. Joining a rec league with Go Mammoth can be a great way to get back into basketball, and it’s designed for players of all skill levels, including beginners like yourself. Many players join after a long break or have little experience, so you definitely won’t be out of place.

It might be a good idea to get some shooting practice in at the park before the season starts, just to refresh your skills and build some confidence. However, it’s not necessary to be an expert; you’ll likely find that most players are in a similar boat and are just looking to have fun and enjoy the game.

As for how it works, if you sign up as an individual, you’ll typically be placed on a team during a draft or based on your skill level. Sometimes, there may be an introductory session where you can showcase your skills, which helps the organizers place you on a team that’s a good fit. Just be open to the experience and focus on having a good time. Have fun on the court!
