Maybe London is not that bad.

Maybe London isn’t so bad after all.

I snapped this photo today at Blackfriars.

Funny enough, just moments before taking this shot, I was chatting with friends about how lifeless London feels these days. After we said our goodbyes, I made my way to the train station to head home and stumbled upon a group of teenage punks, probably around 15-16 years old, calling themselves ‘The Chalamets’ as they had a jam session.

I couldn’t help but chuckle. Perhaps London isn’t as devoid of soul as I’d thought. Maybe I’ve just become numb to it all amid the chaos, crowds, and constant stress.

Listening to those kids fully embrace their garage-band dreams, just for the fun of it, genuinely restored my hope for London’s future.

  1. It sounds like you had a really serendipitous moment! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of a city like London and forget about the little bursts of creativity and spontaneity that can be found everywhere. Those young punks jamming out might just be a reminder that there’s still vibrancy and passion in the city, even if it’s buried beneath the noise. It’s great to hear that this experience reignited some hope for you! London has a rich history of music and youth culture; it’s a testament to the idea that there’s always room for new voices and perspectives. Who knows, maybe ‘The Chalamets’ will be the next big thing! Keep your eyes and ears open—you never know what you might discover next!
