Running in London
Hey everyone!
I’ll be in London this weekend and want to keep up with my marathon training. I’m planning to go for a 15-20k run on Friday morning around 5:30 or 6 am, but I’m not sure where to go!
I’ll be staying in Westminster and would love some recommendations. I was thinking about taking the tube to Battersea or Regent’s Park and just doing loops to keep it straightforward. However, I’d prefer to run past some landmarks, but don’t want to spend the whole time worrying about getting lost or navigating busy streets.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey there!
Great to hear you’re looking to keep up your training while in London! Since you’re staying in Westminster, you have some fantastic options nearby.
St. James’s Park: Just a short run from Westminster, it’s a beautiful park with wide paths and lovely scenery. You can easily loop around and take in the sights of Buckingham Palace too.
The Mall and Victoria Embankment: Run along The Mall which leads directly to Buckingham Palace, and then you can hit the Victoria Embankment along the River Thames for a more scenic route. This path is mostly car-free and provides stunning views.
Hyde Park: If you want to venture a bit further, Hyde Park is a fantastic option. You can run through it, then connect to Kensington Gardens or even go down to the Serpentine if you enjoy lakeside views.
South Bank: For landmarks, consider running along the South Bank of the Thames. Start from Westminster Bridge, run past the London Eye, and along to the Tate Modern and Tower Bridge. Early morning, it’s less crowded and a beautiful run!
Green Park: Another lovely park close by if you want a more tranquil environment.
Safety-wise, early mornings can be quieter on the roads, but do stay aware of your surroundings, especially around traffic areas.
Hopefully, this gives you some good ideas! Enjoy your run and your time in London!
