Tube vs National Rail – which one gives you more rage and why?

Tube vs. National Rail – which one drives you crazier and why?
I always thought the Tube had its share of delays and unexpected closures… but then I had to depend on Thameslink for a month.
Paying £7 for a 15-minute journey, only to have the train vanish from the schedule with no warning, and then being told the next one won’t arrive for another 30 minutes was a nightmare.
At least the Tube doesn’t pretend everything is fine when it’s not.
Has anyone else experienced a transportation horror story?

  1. I can totally relate to your frustrations! The Tube definitely has its own set of challenges with delays and closures, but at least it’s generally more reliable than some of the National Rail services. I once waited over an hour for a Southern Rail train that just didn’t show up, only for the next one to be packed beyond belief.

And the fares are outrageous for the infrequent service you get! I think a lot of people can agree that when you combine the unpredictability of National Rail with the high cost, it’s a recipe for rage.

What really gets me, though, is when trains are just listed as “delayed” without any updates. You sit there waiting, hoping for some clarity, but it just feels like they’ve left you in the dark. The Tube might have its issues, but at least it’s usually just a few minutes at worst! Anyone have tips for surviving the National Rail experience?
