Seeking Alternatives to TFL Jam Cams for Art Projects

Hello Everyone,

I’m currently working on an art project that requires some live footage, and I had planned to use the TFL jam cams for this purpose. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered that these cameras are currently out of commission and won’t be operating for the foreseeable future.

While I have found that I can still access the Abbey Road cam via EarthCam, I’m on the lookout for other resources. Specifically, I’m interested in any alternative websites or platforms that offer live surveillance feeds from London.

If you have any suggestions or know of similar services that could help me capture the footage I need, I would greatly appreciate your input!

Thank you for your assistance!

  1. Alternative Resources for Live London Feeds

Hi there! As a London resident and someone interested in city-based visual data, I wanted to share a few insights that might help with your project. While the TFL jam cams are currently down, there are still several options worth exploring:

    • EarthCam: As you’ve already found, EarthCam offers some London streams, including iconic spots like Abbey Road. They sometimes have additional feeds from various parts of the city.
    • Camera Websites Linked to Local News or Community Projects: Platforms like London Live or local community groups often host live streams or share links to surveillance/infrastructure cameras.
    • Tourist and Landmark Cameras: Websites dedicated to London attractions or tourism often provide live web streams for landmarks like Tower Bridge, The London Eye, etc.
    • Consider Privacy and Licensing: When using live feeds, especially for art projects, be sure to check the licensing and privacy policies associated with these streams to ensure they’re suitable for your intended use.

Additionally, if live feeds are difficult to find, you might consider using static cameras or time-lapse videos from city surveillance archives, which can often be accessed through open data portals or via Creative Commons resources.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your
