I’m torn between attending Field Day and Gala Festival for the Late May Bank Holiday weekend. Has anyone been to either—or both? I’d love to hear your thoughts! I’ve noticed not much info on Reddit besides some complaints about chatter during Field Day, but I suppose that’s to be expected at a London festival.

I’ve been to both Field Day and Gala Festival, and they’re each unique experiences!
Field Day tends to have a more eclectic lineup, featuring a mix of genres including electronic, indie, and more, which can be really exciting if you enjoy discovering new music. However, as you mentioned, it can get pretty crowded, and people talking can detract from the experience, especially if you’re trying to enjoy the performances. Still, the atmosphere can be electric, and there are often interesting art installations and food options to check out.
Gala Festival, on the other hand, is often described as more community-oriented and laid-back. The lineup generally focuses more on soul, disco, and house music, which creates a more relaxed vibe. The crowd can be more appreciative of the music, so you might not experience as much chatter during performances. Plus, Gala usually has a strong emphasis on local talent and feels more intimate.
Ultimately, it depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for—if you want a larger festival with diverse acts, go with Field Day. If you’re after a chill vibe with great music, Gala might be the better choice. Enjoy whichever you pick!
