Community Spotlight: An Exciting Update from the Shoulder to Shoulder Men’s Group
Over the past few weeks, I’ve experienced a series of extraordinary events that have truly taken me by surprise. What began as a modest initiative to foster connection and support among men has blossomed into a vibrant, growing community with remarkable momentum. I’d love to share some of these highlights and milestones with you.
A Surprising Invitation from Reddit
One of the most unexpected developments came when Reddit reached out and invited us to their London office. They expressed interest in learning more about our community, how the group started, and how it gained such organic attention. During our visit, we had the opportunity to share stories from our members, showcase some of your comments, and discuss the profound impact that genuine community support can have—even among strangers. It was a meaningful experience that reaffirmed the importance of the space we’re building. (Here’s a photo of us during the visit!)
Spontaneous Local Connections
What’s truly inspiring is the organic growth happening on the ground. Men who connected through our initial online thread began meeting up in real life—sharing coffees, exploring local parks, organizing informal evening gatherings, and forming micro-groups within their neighborhoods. These spontaneous meetups illustrate how authentic relationships can develop unexpectedly, simply through a shared willingness to support each other. Though I can’t share all the pictures here, trust me, the energy is incredible.
Upcoming Activities and Events
We’ve always aimed to create engaging and meaningful events for our members. This week, we’ve got some exciting activities lined up:
- Sauna and Cold Plunge Session: Sold out but a fantastic example of our focus on wellness practices that promote mental clarity and physical vitality.
- Pilates Taster Class: Nearly full, scheduled for this Saturday, offering a relaxed way to explore movement and mindfulness.
A Thoughtful Gesture for Men’s Day
In an unexpected and touching gesture, Interflora sent flowers to some of our members in recognition of International Men’s Day. They noticed the positive impact our community was making and chose to send bouquets to men supporting each other—an act of kindness that truly warmed our hearts and highlighted the power of recognition.
Festive Plans and Invites
Looking ahead, Lucky Saint has generously offered to host our Christmas gathering at their pub on December 19. If you’re interested in joining us for an evening of casual conversation and camaraderie, there are still a few tickets
