Donating blood at Westfield Stratford

Important Update for Blood Donors at Westfield Stratford

If you have scheduled a blood donation appointment at Westfield Stratford and naturally assumed it would take place at the usual location, please take note of this important update. The traditional donation site is currently undergoing refurbishment, which includes the installation of air conditioning—an upgrade not typically included—and improvements to the heating and hot water systems.

Due to these renovations, the usual donation unit is temporarily unavailable. As a result, blood donors must now be directed to an alternative location within the shopping centre. The new donation site is situated at the “Westfield Stratford City Coach Parking” area. When approaching, walk through this designated zone and look for the mobile donation unit positioned at the back, on the right-hand side.

It’s worth noting that signage to this unexpected location is minimal, which might cause some confusion—particularly for those unfamiliar with the area. A fellow donor shared that they, like myself, initially struggled to find the mobile unit, and many others also had to navigate their way there. To avoid any inconvenience, it’s advisable to plan ahead and allow extra time for your visit.

The team managing the blood donation service has informed us that the regular unit is expected to reopen in September. We hope for a swift refurbishment and look forward to returning to the usual location soon.

A Helpful Reminder

In response to recent inquiries, the blood donation service has stated that they have been including a wayfinding video in their text reminders since March. If you missed it initially, you can view the guide here. It might be worth reviewing to familiarise yourself with the new location before your visit.

Conclusion

While the temporary change of location may require some adjustment, your contribution remains vital. Planning ahead and reviewing the guidance provided can ensure a smooth donation experience during this refurbishment period. We appreciate your understanding and generosity in supporting local healthcare initiatives.

Stay informed, donate safely, and thank you for your continued support.
